Family, Pieces of My Life

Day 10: Blessing in Disguise

I praise and thank God today for time spent with my parents.

My mom called me early this morning.

She needs a favor. A BIG one.

Because God is gracious, the Lord has provided for us so we can help her with what she needs.

Evidently, she needs to get the “favor” from us. Since it’s Christmas Day, most establishments are closed.

So, my parents had to travel and meet us so they can get what they needed.

Originally, my husband and I planned on inviting my parents to his parents’ house.

This way, our parents have more time to know one another.

We always hope our parents could be good friends since they are family to us.

After finding out that his mom is not home and his dad is not feeling well, we decided to take my parents out to lunch instead!

Our family discovered a new resto at this mall where we always spend our Sundays.

My dad is hard to please when it comes to food.

Thank God that with this restaurant Buffalo’s, we were able to match not only my dad’s type of food but also his taste. (Our family loves pizza but my dad is not the pizza kind of guy.)

The different flavors appealed to him. (Praise God!)

It turned out the “favor” was a blessing in disguise!

Because of it, we were able to spend Christmas with my parents.

We were able to show love by helping them with their need and they were able to show love to their grandkids by handing over their gifts.

While I am thankful for the material and financial gifts, I am most thankful to the Lord for another Christmas spent with my parents especially that my mom has been diagnosed with the big “C” this year.

We may not feel the effects of her illness yet, but I am thankful to the Lord for her daily strength, and the love and support she gives me, my husband, and my children.

How about you?

What is your Christmas story? Looking forward to being blessed by your Christmas story. Share them in the comment section below.
